Our travelers send greetings from their adventure visiting the Dead Vlei in Namibia. What once was a marsh, is now a dried white clay pan, surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world. It is believed that the clay pan formed more than a thousand years ago, when the Tsauchab river flooded after heavy rainfall and created shallow pools of water.

In these marshes camel thorn trees began to grow. But after around years, the climate changed. Drought struck the area. The sand dunes that encroached the area soon blocked off the Tsauchab river and any water. With no water, the trees were unable to survive. But they did not disappear. So harsh was the climate that the trees dried out instead of decomposing, and the desert sun scorched them into blackened bones.

Now all that remains are year old tree skeletons trapped in a white clay marsh, set against red rusted dunes and a brilliant blue sky. A forest frozen in time. Strikingly natural in decor and vibrant in personality, this theme carries up to the sunny rooftop deck with its bar, pool, loungers and outside tables for those who'd prefer to dine al fresco.

It is a nature reserve in the Eastern Great Rift Valley in north-central Tanzania and the most spectacular part is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera.

Some scientists maintain that before it erupted, the Ngorongoro volcano had stood higher than Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa. Here are 3 facts you may not have known yet: 1. The conservation area borders the Serengeti National Park to the north and west 3.

She had a phenomenal display of orange, yellow, purple and white wildflowers carpeting the landscape. The vibrant colours were absolutely breathtaking and the intense beauty of the park was just magical. The wildflowers engulfed the Postberg Section as far as the eye could see and sometimes a backdrop of the ocean behind it.

Happy hoteltiphumpday everyone! Today we'd like to introduce you to Mfuwe Lodge, which is based in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and has a very special sighting once a year for the last few years. A herd of elephants is walking through the reception area not being bothered by the people at all and aiming towards the mango tree in the lodge ground.

That specific elephant family comes each year for at least three generations to feast on the mangos. A lot of visitors come specifically over those months to see that spectacle and even TV documentaries came to monitor that. A very special activity offered in Zambia is the canoeing at the lodges in the Lower Zambezi National Park. You can sit back and enjoy a very special safari in a canoe at a side part of the Zambezi.

It is a completely different feeling being on water level and being eye in eye with the animals. Crocodiles and hippos can be spotted regularly - and a very special encounter is seeing a herd of elephants drinking at the river. Throughout my career as a Chief Experience Officer with G Adventures I have been fortunate enough to have done some incredible things.

One adventure that will forever remain one of the most memorable was the day I got to snorkel with a whale shark off the coast of Tofu, Mozambique. It is hard to put into words how remarkable it felt to feel so small swimming with the gentle giant of the ocean. The reefs off of Tofu Bay offer the visitors the opportunity to snorkel with manta rays and whale sharks all year round. The high season where whale sharks are most prominent runs from November until May, but sightings are regularly made throughout the rest of the year.

Moving further north up the coast to another magical spot, Vilanculos is home to the beautiful coral reefs of the Bazaruto Islands. Here you can witness the swift movements of a manta ray while snorkeling and diving in picture perfect paradise. It is in the Bazaruto Islands that you can sail in a traditional Dhow Safari. A dhow is a traditional sailboat that the locals use for fishing and transportation between the islands. The Dhow Safari Experience is so special because while you relax and enjoy the warm currents of the Indian Ocean, you will have your very own chef on board cooking on an open fire pit right beside you.

It truly is a memorable experience and one that you will take with you long after you return home.
