Why does slipknot hate limp bizkit
Fred Durst also directed The Fanatic, which may be the greatest, or worst accomplishment of his depending on how you see things. I get why people feel this way, but disagree - I feel like the ending is a commentary on the rest of the film in a way, and perhaps on storytelling generally. It's not like you could stick that ending at the end of any movie and have it make sense.
You need the blustery, hyper-masculine intimidation antics of the rest of the story for the more subtle, subversive manipulation of Spacey's character to have any weight or meaning. Just my take though - and for the record, The Usual Suspects is hardly the best film ever and I would agree to it being generally "overrated".
I've thought about it but I just don't think any of that was clever. It thought it was all very clever but it really wasn't, and that particularly pretentious feeling of it really rubbed me the wrong way. I think that makes me outright dislike it other than yes, I would agree, certainly overrated considering how people have suggested it to me in the past.
Don't make your story a commentary on storytelling unless you really have something of substance to say, I think, and that film just didn't have any substance behind its ideas for me. I wasn't aware the public at large still harbored a huge hatred towards Limp Bizkit, or really treated them with anything much more than indifference these daysthough I admittedly wouldn't be the person to ask about current trends in music.
Fred Durst certainly invited some of the hatred earlier in his career, when he quite stupidly insulted Slipknot fans. I think it was partially a cascade effect of group hatred at that point. And when the mood of the industry changed, he couldn't really keep up. After that, it was all downhill. It's hard to catch back up with the changing tide once you've fallen out of sync with it.
Personally, I struggle to think of a bigger waste of emotional energy than hating a band or a musician, be it for their music or their allegedly atrocious personality. Kinda glad I moved past that when I was a teen. But man, I really never thought I'd see a forum thread about Limp Bizkit hatred in It's like a time machine back to browsing phpBB boards in I was kind of wondering about that about 10 years ago, then Nickel Back came out and they did it again..
I think I remember a news story about Fred Durst jumping on a sheet of plywood crowd surfing over fans and breaking some backs. Trent Reznor called him out in an interview and the third Limp Bizkit album had not just a few lines in songs here and there making fun of him but a whole parody song as the first track.
Yeah he was a douche. Also my friend from high school who started out nice and cool went complete Limp Bizkit and bought all their t-shirts hoodies bumper stickers and albums and I couldn't stand him anymore and broke my own tape of three dollar billz that got him into them in the first place when he wasn't in the car. I literally tossed it out the window, reversed, and ran over it. They were trash. The only good thing about that band was the rest of the band. But most of their fans I knew became assholes.
I don't know why people hate on weak cookie, I personally like them, and fred thirsty. Durst is thirsty in German. Semi-unrelated but i watched his latest movie, The Fanatic, and it's just so absurdly terrible. It was like having a glimpse of true insanity, i can't imagine how something like that gets created. It takes the spin around just bad, to so bad it's amusing so many times and by the end of it i was just asking why every little thing in the movie had to be the way they were.
I agree, they made some nice songs with a grimy atmosphere, and at times they were genuinely disturbing. I think all of the big nu-metal bands were talented in at least a couple areas.
Korn was unique and just accessible enough to get on the radio, Disturbed was a pretty well-rounded alternative metal group with catchy songs, Limp Bizkit had a silly kind of charm that's instantly recognizable, Slipknot had technical skills in a few areas, mainly on the drums, and I'm probably forgetting a big band or two.
While all of them had their own issues, they are mainly shat on because of elitists and usually young fanbases. There are much worse rock bands out there. Most of the people who shit on specific bands like that are usually ex-fans who want to rub their "newfound superiority in taste" in everyone's face.
Limp Bizkit certainly was a product of its time, I don't think it has aged well at all and don't bother listening to it these days. I've not come across alot of hate for Limp in recent years, I thought most people had forgotten about them. Fred Durst has always been a class A cock tho, that's not a new reason to dislike the band lol. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. In Fred tried to become a Russian citizen so he could go live in Crimea for a bit by writing an ass-kissing letter to Vladimir Putin. And the sale of Limp Bizkit music was subsequently made illegal. The whole thing was over in less than three seconds, but obviously gave Fred the movie bug, since he went on to direct the award-winning movie The Education Of Charlie Banks, featuring Jessie Eisenberg, and the… not as successful The Fanatic starring John Travolta.
